Beaumont Independent School District is a public school district based in Beaumont, Texas (US). In addition to Beaumont, the district also serves the city of Bevil Oaks. On April 14, 2014, the Texas Education Agency took over operations of the district, after numerous investigations into district operations.〔http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/news/article/TEA-taking-over-Beaumont-ISD-Chargois-out-5400783.php〕 TEA named a conservator to manage the district (who has the authority to overrule the decisions of the current Superintendent); pending district appeals the elected Board of Trustees and Superintendent will be replaced by a Board of Managers, who will manage the district for no more than two years. On July 14, 2014, the Texas Education Agency under Commissioner Michael L. Williams officially replaced current superintendent and Board of Trustees with an interim Superintendent and Board of Managers.〔http://www.12newsnow.com/story/26012304/breaking-tea-approves-state-takeover-district-to-be-run-by-board-of-managers〕 The interim Superintendent is former El Paso Independent School District interim superintendent Vern Butler, and the new Board of Managers will be: A.B. Bernard, Lenny Caballero, Jack Carroll, Joe Domino, Vernice Monroe, James M. Simmons, & Robert Turner.〔http://www.12newsnow.com/story/26016019/new-bisd-board-of-managers-named〕 ==History== The current BISD was formed in 1983 as a result of a series of events involving two separate districts: the prior Beaumont Independent School District (founded in 1883) and the neighboring South Park Independent School District (founded in 1891). During the 1970s and early 1980s, the prior BISD was a majority-minority district (predominantly African-American) while the South Park District was 70 percent Anglo. A 1981 court order mandated integration of the South Park schools. In response, the Beaumont and South Park districts discussed a merger of the two districts, which was put to a vote in April 1983, but failed. In August 1983, voters in the Beaumont district voted to dissolve the district, which was attached to the South Park district within one week of the vote.〔http://www.lbb.state.tx.us/Documents/Publications/School_Performance_Review/700_Beaumont_ISD_Report.pdf Beaumont ISD School Performance Review, Legislative Budget Board, August 2013, p. 9.〕 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Beaumont Independent School District」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
